Faith Formation for Adults

Whole Community Catechesis

As followers of Jesus we are called to be a reconciling community. But what does this mean exactly? How can we learn about the elements of reconciliation through our own traditions and other traditions? What needs reconciling in our lives, community and indeed the world? This year our parish community will engage with these questions as part of Reconciliation: From Walls to Bridges. The whole parish is invited to come to speakers we will host here. There will be opportunities to engage in these questions along with others with other parishioners in small faith sharing groups. We will also have opportunities to pray and reflect in addition to our worship together at Mass. Children and Youth programs will also highlight this theme this year. More information will be available during stewardship fair as well as throughout the year in the bulletin. For more information, please contact Dotti Krist-Sterbick at 272-5136 ext. 110.

Contemplative Prayer

These Christian Meditation groups meet weekly on Thursday and Saturday mornings. The groups support each person’s daily commitment to the inner pilgrimage. The method they follow in the group is that of Fr. John Main, O.S.B., a Benedictine monk. Each group makes use of a collection of talks recorded by Fr. Main. They are linked in a common spirit to a world-wide community for Christian meditation. In this renewal of the Christian tradition of prayer there is a great potential for Christians of all denominations to meet in common faith. Indeed, people of all religions can meet in their common humanity by meditating together. For more information contact Dotti Krist-Sterbick at 253-272-5136 ext. 110.

The Spiritual Exercise in Everyday Life

The Spiritual Exercise in Everyday Life (SEEL) is a nine month retreat based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. With assistance of spiritual directors from Roman Catholic and other Christian traditions, this retreat offers a gift of spiritual accompaniment, within a context of consistent personal prayer, within a prayerful community dimension. The retreat community meets in two separate locations, one in Tacoma at St. Leo and the other in Seattle at St. Joseph Church. This retreat is best suited for those who have established a discipline of regular personal prayer, have experience of sharing their spiritual journey with one another, and who are called and committed to deepening personal faith and nurturing the seeds of a spirituality that transforms human society.
