St. Leo is excited to welcome Xavier to the clergy team here at St. Leo and Sacred Heart Parishes. We are looking forward to having him join our communities this summer.
Xavier has sent in some information to share about himself below.
Xavier Benavides was born in San Antonio, TX and is part of the West Coast Jesuit Province. Mr. Benavides has a Philosophy and English Degree from Texas A&M University, an MA in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago, an MBA from the University of Michigan and will be completing an MDiv from Boston College this spring. He worked a variety of places prior to joining the Jesuits including Microsoft, Cisco, Amazon, Oxfam America, AmeriCorps working with street and homeless youth in the Capitol Hill area and the Church Council of Greater Seattle. Since joining the Jesuits, he has been serving as a spiritual director for the last 6 years and helped lead the 19th Annotations program at St. Ignatius Church in Chestnut Hill, MA. He is serving his pastoral year with Our Lady of Grace Church in Chelsea and St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Revere in the Boston area. He is an avid cook and loves spending time with a good book.
