Health Care Ministry

The mission of the Health Care Ministry, a program of the Pastoral Care Commission, is to be a loving family of health care ministers who promote health and wellness of body, mind, and spirit within the congregation. We do this through screening, teaching, and referral.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

We had a group who knitted and prayed together on the second weekend of the month in the Hospitality Area of the church before or after the 5 PM and 10:30 AM Masses which we hope to resume when safe to do so.

Many knitters knit/crochet these prayer shawls at home while praying for needs of the person who will receive the shawl.  The prayer shawls are given to those in our parish who are ill, whether emotionally, spiritually, or physically.

Five Wishes

Five Wishes, a legally valid advance medical directive document, presented by St Leo health care ministers. It provides planning for preserving one’s dignity, which is a gift to loved ones. Getting clear on what really matters is also a gift to oneself. Five Wishes addresses medical situations and concerns.  It speaks of the importance of prayer, forgiveness and reconciliation.

More information is available about Five Wishes at www.agingwithdignity.org.

Caregivers Support Group

This is a family and friend caregivers support group that meets at St Leo. It is a monthly support group which fosters caregiver wellness to help make life better for loved ones needing care and their caregivers.
We hope to resume these meetings when safe to do so.

Support U

This program offers six classes designed to foster caregiver wellness to make life better for seniors and their caregivers.  Basic care giving information and tips, presented in accessible short classes, help reduce the number of caregivers who suffer from burnout by trying to “do it all” alone.

CPR/AED Classes

These are cardio pulmonary resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator classes which we hope to resume when safe to do so.

Fitness Program for Seniors & Others

This is an exercise program to improve overall fitness, including balance, strength, agility, flexibility and endurance. We hope to support area wide classes when safe to do so.

Walking Program

This is group that walks in the park weekly. The group walks for fitness, companionship, and fun. We hope to resume these walks when safe to do so.
